To Slurp or Not to Slurp?

After receiving many comments on my recent post, "are manners important" I feel the need to explain when slurping is appropriate and when it is not. As a rule in the United States, slurping as a whole is considered bad etiquette, however there are exceptions to this rule.
One exception to this rule is Wine tasting. When tasting wine one is permitted to slurp or gurgle the wine, sucking air through your mouth forces air into the nasal passage, allowing the flavors to spread across your tongue.
The second exception to this rule is when eating Ramen. It is scientifically proven that the Ramen Noodles taste better through slurping. The concept is the same when slurping noodles. The flavor of the noodles and soup are multiplied through slurping.
In summation unless you are at a Ramen House enjoying some noodles and soup, or in the Willamette Valley tasting Pinot Noir in a tasting room, slurping in general is considered bad etiquette. Happy Slurping!http://youtu.be/eD_Jl2yWLt4
